The SSh-68 (Stalnoy Shlem 1968) steel helmet was actually introduced by the Soviet Union in, as the name suggests, 1968, and it was used during the Cold War era and beyond.

The SSh-68 helmet was widely used by the Soviet Army and other Warsaw Pact countries during the Cold War period. It was also exported and used by several countries outside of the Eastern Bloc. While it was not directly associated with World War II, it became a recognizable symbol of Soviet and Eastern Bloc military forces during the latter half of the 20th century.
